Monterey county parks officials have completed the acquisition of nearly 8-hundred acres of land (south of the monterey-salinas highway). The ranch land between toro park and las palmas ranch, and will now be considered part of toro park. Monterey county officials purchased more than 6-hundred acres of the “marks ranch” land in 2010. this week, the county acquired the remaining acreage, with the help of a state- grant. About 80-acres still belong to the big sur land trust, and is expected to be set aside for cattle grazing. The move increases the size of Toro park to nearly 55-hundred acres.
