U.C. SANTA CRUZ RESEARCHErS BROUGHT IN $140 MILLION IN EXTERNAL GRANTS AND CONTRACTS IN THE FISCAL YEAR THAT ENDED IN JUNE, THE CAMPUS REPORTED WEDNESDAY. THIS IS THE 7th CONSECUTIVE YEAR U.C.S.C. HAS EXCEEDED $100 MILLION AND THE 2nd BEST YEAR OVERALL FOR RESEARCH FUNDING. THE LARGEST FUNDING SOURCES FOR CAMPUS RESEARCH WERE THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH AT $39MILLION AND N.A.S.A. AT 36$ MILLION. U.C.S.C. reported its single largest award, $29 million, was for projects carried out by the University Affiliated Research Center, located at NASA Ames Research Center, from its continuing contract with NASA.
