The driver of an Escalade that drove off the road and into the ocean on Thursday turned out to be a singer in the South African acapella group, Overtone. 26-year-old Valentino Ponsonby is in the group managed by Clint Eastwood’s wife. A witness reported seeing the vehicle driven by Ponsonby on 17 mile drive in Pebble Beach, traveling very quickly around 11am. The car drove off the road, over a sandy beach, and into 4 foot deep water. Ponsonby suffered moderate injuries, and was treated in a Monterey hospital. Ponsonby was taken into custody by police on suspicion of driving under the influence.
