Two men were arrested in Gonzales last night after they were discovered attempting to poach animals. 41-year-old Keith Wade Lane of Arizona, and 48-year-old Michael Panziera stopped in a remote area on Limekiln Road, where they were spotted by Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies. The deputies approached the stopped vehicle to perform a search, and found the car to be unregistered. Inside the vehicle officers found a fully loaded .223 caliber rifle and a .22 caliber rifle, as well as additional ammunition and a high intensity spotlight. It was determined that Lane and Panziera were intending to poach animals. Both men were charged with fish and game, firearm, and vehicle code violations.
