A fire near salinas was controlled monday morning without the need for air support. A helicopter and 2-air tankers were called to help fight the fire off of river road, however cal-fire ground crews were able to control the flames before the air tankers arrived. The helicopter did arrive at the scene, but did not need to make any water-drops. The 10 a.m. fire burned about 2-acres; it was contained in less than an hour. The cause is being investigated. Pg and e crews were called to evaluate nearby power lines.
