Bruce mcpherson, candidate for Santa cruz county’s 5th supervisorial district, has switched his party affiliation…to “none.” The previously registered- republican has announced that he has re-registered as having “no party preference.” The former California secretary of state is just shy of avoiding a runoff election in november against opponent eric hammer. The results must be made official by july 3rd. county supervisors are officially non-partisan offices, so even though candidates can be registered for a certain political party, they do not represent the party on the board of supervisors.
