A part-time santa cruz resident has pleaded no contest to killing a santa cruz woman in maui last year. 38-year-old Gerald galaway junior lived part time in santa cruz and part time in maui. He is expected to live full time in prison, for as long as 40-years, after pleading to manslaughter and kidnapping charges, for causing the death of 35-year-old celestial dove cassman. Galaway had faced murder charges, but he was able to plead to lesser charges as part of a deal with prosecutors. Galaway was seen by witnesses this past September beating cassman and throwing her on the ground. She was found dead at the scene, and, after fleeing and jumping off of a cliff into the ocean, galaway was arrested. he is scheduled to be sentenced on september 11th. Cassman was an attorney for the city of santa cruz, she lived in the seabright neighborhood.
