9 city employees will receive layoff notices as a result of a new budget for the city of seaside that was approved last night. the budget tackles a 2-point-4 million dollar deficit the city is facing. half of the savings are based on cuts and half is based on assumed employee concessions. 6 employees will be laid off from the city’s resource management department. the new budget calls for a reorganization of the management department, so 2 of the 6 laid off employees could potentially be hired back. the city will also lose a community liaison officer and a police services assistant, as well as 1 employee from the finance department.
