Pacific grove city leaders are exploring other options for fire protection services in the city. pacific grove already contracts with the city of monterey for joint-fire-protection-services, however city council members are looking for more savings than that arrangement provides. City council members voted 6 to 1 on Wednesday to take a look at other proposals. Among the possible plans is a sharing-arrangement with cal-fire or a private entity. A hybrid volunteer-professional fire department could also be considered. The city council hopes to have proposals presented before the new fiscal year starts on july 1st. City leaders are looking to cut costs after projections suggested that annual deficits could reach 300-thousand dollars for the next 5-years.
