A free art show and poetry reading is scheduled for fridayevening, to honor santa cruz county artist of the year gary young. Young’s work spans several genres, including poetry, letter press-printing, typography, and other visual arts. Gary young’s work will be celebrated with readings and demonstrations, at the santa cruz museum of art and history. the free show is open to the public, but seating is first-come first served. The show begins at 7 p.m. friday. the santa cruz museum of art and history is located at 705 front street. Young was named the inaugural santa cruz county poet laureate in 2010. his work is displayed in museums worldwide, and his new book of poetry, “Even So,” has just been released.
