A BICYCLIST WHO WAS HIT AFTER SWERVING IN FRONT OF A CAR SATURDAY EVENING WAS ARRESTED FOR A D.U.I. FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT. 38-YEAR-OLD JESUS CERVANTES WAS RIDING ON EAST CLIFF AVENUE IN SANTA CRUZ WHEN HE VEERED OUT OF THE BICYCLE LANE AND INTO THE PATH OF AN AUTOMOBILE. FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION AT THE SCENE, CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL DETERMINED THAT CERVANTES WAS UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL AND ARRESTED HIM. THE DRIVER WAS UNHARMED, BUT CERVANTES SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER FOR TREATMENT.
