2 people were arrested on child cruelty charges early sunday morning in santa cruz. multiple law ENFORCEMENT agencies aided in a parole search at a frederick street apartment in which 30 year old brenda valencia and 32 year old raymond watkins were living. law enforcement agents found a .22 caliber gun with ammunition, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, all within easy access of valencia’s 8 year old son. both suspects were arrested on multiple charges, including felony cruelty to a child, possession of a controlled substance, and parole violations. they remain at santa cruz county jail.
