Marina city leaders have again avoided a deadline to use a grant provided by monterey county. the 3-hundred-thousand dollar grant was awarded in 2003, with the stipulation that the funds be used for affordable housing. Several deadlines have been extended, and wednesday, county officials agreed to extend the deadline by another year. The vote also authorized the transfer of the funds to another housing project, after the original proposal was abandoned by the developer. The new project calls for a 47-unit senior housing complex, on land off of de forest road.
