A mental evaluation was ordered by a santa cruz county judge on Tuesday, for a man accused of rape. Judge paul burdick ordered the evaluation for 22-year-old elvis Lorenzo Garcia, after garcia’s defense argued that he was having difficulty understanding the court proceedings. Garcia is accused of a 2008 violent rape of an employee of a coffee shop near the santa cruz harbor. The results of the mental evaluation are due by march 1st.
