2 mountain lions were spotted by hikers in pogonip park on Tuesday evening. The Santa cruz police department reported the sighting though the department’s Nixel alert system. The 2-adult lions were spotted by hikers at about 6 p.m., near the spring street entrance. Nobody was injured. police reported that the lion seemed “interested” in the hikers’ dog, which was off the leash. Police are reminding residents to take precautions in areas in which mountain lions have been seen. experts recommend that, If you are confronted by a mountain lion, do not turn and run away. Instead, face the animal directly, put out your arms to look big, and yell loudly and constantly. Report the incident immediately, and bring a cellphone on hikes if you can.
