the city of salinas saw a drop in its overall reported violent crime in the first half of 2011. from january to june 2011, homicides, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault dropped by 11.4 percent, according to a preliminary semiannual uniform crime report released by the f.b.i.. while reports of robbery and aggravated assault were down, reports of murder and rape were up from the first half of 2010. property crime numbers in salinas followed a national trend which showed a 3.7 percent overall decline.
