A mountain lion was likely responsible for an attack on a deer Monday morning, in monterey. residents on cramden drive hear the attack, at about 4 a.m., but did not spot the predator. The incident marks the 5th time that a mountain lion has been seen or detected in the monterey area since july. Because of their protected status, mountain lions are only killed when they are reported as being “aggressive.” None of the recent monterey incidents were reported as such. (deer are natural prey for the large cats).
