SVMH Strike cancelled 10/13/11 9:30p.m. TDH

A planned strike has been cancelled by union members at salinas valley memorial hospital.  Workers are still without a contract, however hospital administrators and leaders of the national union of healthcare workers, have agreed to take another 30-days, to try to settle the dispute.  Union officials had issued a notice to strike for 1-day, on October 18th.   That action will be delayed, with hopes of reaching an agreement.  As part of the deal to cancel the strike, hospital administrators agreed to pay workers that were locked-out of their jobs for 2-days, following a 1-day strike in june. Another bargaining session is scheduled for October 26th, with 2-additional meetings scheduled for november.
