The city of marina has been named in a national survey, as one of the top-100 cities in the u.s., for young people. The survey, conducted by the group “america’s promise alliance,” (with funding from insurance company I-N-G), analyzed various aspects of communities that benefit young people, including high-school dropout rates and local infrastructure. Marina, (which was 1 of just 7-communities in California to make the top-100), has made improvements in recent years including the construction of a teen center, the creation of a city skateboarding team, and further improving on better-than average dropout rates.
The city’s skate team took home the championship in this year’s state games of America national junior Olympic skateboarding competition.
