The soledad city council has voted to approve the merger of the city’s police department, with the greenfield police department. The 5 to zero vote on Wednesday evening directs the soledad city manager to work with the city attorney, to draft a memorandum of understanding, so that the merger can move forward. The greenfield city council approved the merger last month, by a vote of 3 to 2. the move is being done to save both cities money. Meanwhile, a group of greenfield residents is seeking to put the matter to a city-wide vote. The group has until october 13th to collect the required signatures.
