Lettuce recall expanded 09/30/11 5p.m. TDH

A voluntary recall of romaine lettuce has been expanded, due to possible listeria contamination.   At the request of the f-d-a, True leaf farms, based in san juan bastista, (with farms in salinas and Watsonville), expanded the recall to include 19-states, including California, as well as lettuce shipped to Alberta, Canada.   The recalled product includes chopped or shredded romaine lettuce, labeled “true leaf farms” or “church brothers,” with a use by date of yesterday, September 29th.  In most of the states, the lettuce was sold by wholesale distributors, not directly to consumers.      No illnesses have been reported in connection with the lettuce.   For more information on the recall, visit church brothers.com.
