A sacramento judge has ruled that a rodeo planned for this weekend in santa cruz county, can go forward. A group of local residents had filed an injunction to stop the event from being held at the santa cruz county fairgrounds. The rodeo is being held by the santa cruz county sheriff’s department’s “stars of justice, incorporated” charitable organization. The injunction had sought to prevent the event from happening, on the grounds that an environmental impact report was needed. The judge ruled that the claim was brought too late to stop the rodeo, and that holding it would not do “irreparable harm” to the environment. However, the overall issue of whether such future events are exempt from the E-I-R, is yet to be ruled on.
