The santa cruz county board of supervisors agreed on Tuesday to retain the county’s redevelopment agency. That meant approving a measure to give the state 51-million dollars of the redevelopment funds, in payments made over the next 16-years. the vote by the board of supervisors was unanimous. The move allows the county to maintain its agency, rather that have decisions on infrastructure, affordable housing and capital projects, made by a state-controlled agency. Santa cruz county has 75-million dollars worth of approved projects from redevelopment funds. The move could be unnecessary, however, if the California Supreme Court invalidates the legislation that required the increased payment.
