THE DEVELOPERS OF A 32-UNIT HOUSING COMPLEX (ON SANTA CRUZ’S EASTSIDE) HAVE AGREED NOT TO BUILD OVER AN OHLONE BURIAL SITE. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM K.B. HOME SAYS THEY’LL SET ASIDE A 13 THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT PARCEL AT THE TOP OF THE KNOLL WHERE SOME REMAINS OF AN OHLONE CHILD WERE FOUND OVER THE SUMMER. OHLONE ELDERS WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE SITE FOR CEREMONIES.
3 ACRES OF THIS SITE HAVE ALSO BEEN SET ASIDE TO PRESERVE THE ENDANGERED SPINEFLOWER.
