A memorial bench in pacific grove is expected to remain at its location at ocean view boulevard. That, after volunteers drew attention to the fact that pacific grove public works employees had been ordered to remove the bench. The bench, named in honor of a Petaluma girl who was murdered in 1993, was slated for removal because a 175-dollar fee was not paid by the sponsor of the memorial. Polly klaas was 12-years-old at the time of her death. After he was informed of the planned removal, the girl’s father said he was eager to pay the fee. The maintenance fee is charged every 5-years. other benches in the area have reportedly been removed, for similar reasons.
