A 24-year-old man who was attending a baptism ceremony in salinas on Saturday night, was shot near the party, and later died of his injuries. Police say that the victim, juan manuel avila, had briefly stepped away from the gathering on the 9-hundred block of Acosta plaza, when he was gunned down. The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. No suspects were located in the area. manuel avila was taken to natividad medical center. He was set to be air-lifted to a bay-area trauma center, however he succumbed to his injuries before the helicopter arrived.
