a 64 year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of a what appeared to be a world war II hand grenade at the Homeless Services Center in Santa Cruz. John Walter Valley had the device in his shopping cart. when law enforcement officers arrived on the scene, valley was also found to have methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle in his possessions.
The hand grenade was destroyed at the landfill; and valley was booked into santa cruz county jail.
