The rookie pilot (of a crop-dusting helicopter) was able to walk away from the aircraft after crashing it into a field off Highway 129 yesterday. The 10:50 a.m. incident occurred after the crop-duster clipped a power line, and the aircraft crash-landed on a Willoughby Farms lettuce field.
The chemicals had already been removed from the plane (prior to the apprentice taking it up); and the fuel was removed after the crash. the aircraft itself will probably remain in the field until the lettuce harvest is done.
