A lawsuit has been filed against the santa cruz county fair board, by a community group. The group, the community alliance for fairgrounds accountability, is largely made up of residents who live near the fair grounds. The lawsuit is in response to an ongoing debate about noise, traffic, and environmental concerns. Among the issues cited in the suit, was the decision by board members to approve a rodeo at the fairgrounds for this fall, without conducting an environmental impact review. Board members are reviewing the suit. They had contended that the rodeo was exempt, under a grandfather clause for equestrian events.
