Hundreds of people attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony this weekend, to mark the opening of the new scotts valley library. The grand opening of the building on kings village road came after a dispute with santa cruz county leaders nearly halted plans, when funding became an issue. County leaders agreed to sign a modified, shortened lease to operate the library, while the city will own the building, (which was originally built as a skating rink.) the group the friends of the scotts valley library is still seeking donations to make additional improvements.
