About a dozen layoff notices are expected to be issued for classified jobs in the Santa Cruz City School District. At a meeting slated for tonight, board of trustees are expected to consider issuing the notices for 14 positions and cutting the hours of 7 positions, mostly part-time jobs funded with community donations. The proposed reduction is estimated to save the city roughly $200,000 a year. The district’s overall annual budget is 55-million dollars.
