The Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District will consider several recommendations tomorrow on how to reduce a 3.8-million dollar deficit for the transit agency. Recommendations to reduce their deficit include cutting service 12%, increasing base fares 50-cents and tapping reserves to close the gap. The board will consider the recommendations and a corresponding timeline for future public hearings on route cuts during a 9 a.m. meeting at the Santa Cruz City Council Chambers.
