A 20-year-old man pleaded no contest to several charges today, including assaulting a police officer. Oscar cruz entered the no contest pleas for 7-charges, stemming from an incident last november. Cruz was caught stealing items from vehicles near watsonville’s hope drive and firethorn way, and fought with the watsonville police officer who tried to apprehend him. Cruz also pleaded no contest to gang involvement. He is scheduled to be sentenced on may 18th.
