A decision to keep a Duel Immersion course in the North Monterey County Unified School District, is still up in the air. Parents with children attending Castroville Elementary School told the district during a meeting last night, student aptitude test scores have risen due to the 2-way language program. The district, however, is still on the fence about the program, saying the school is still in the bottom 5-percent of schools in the state. If the dual immersion program stays, staff may be cut in half or the school may be closed.
