administrators from pajaro valley unified school district alerted over 200 teachers and other employees that their positions might be eliminated at the end of the year. those who received the PRELIMINARY layoff notices were the 109 teachers on temporary contracts and 100 employees whose subjects included math, art, science and social studies. most of the teachers at the watsonville/aptos adult school also received preliminary layoff notices.
