THE CAPITOLA CITY COUNCIL VOTED UNANIMOUSLY LAST NIGHT TO ENTER INTO A DECADE-LONG CONTRACT WITH THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY. THAT MOVE WAS MADE IN ANTICIPATION OF THE GOVERNOR’S PLAN TO DO AWAY WITH REDEVELOPMENT AGENCIES. THE CITY HAS PLEDGED TO PUT 365 THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FUNDS INTO A NEW HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (THAT WOULD BE ADMINISTERED BY THE COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY).
THIS NEW PROGRAM WOULD LARGELY BE FOR LOW INCOME RESIDENTS.
