The Public Utilities Commission is expected to develop a proposal in the next few weeks which allows PG&E customers to opt-out of Smart-Meter installations. Today’s motion resulted over concerns regarding the device’s exposure to radio frequencies and radiation of the wireless electricity and gas meters. PG&E says the meters are safe, while other PUC Commissioners want more research on whether the electronic meter-reading system is a health risk.
