Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital officials are refuting a statement made by a union official yesterday, which suggested that the hospital agreed to reduce the number of layoffs planned. A union representative told the Salinas Californian yesterday that administrators had agreed to reduce the number of positions being cut from 110, to just 20. However, hospital administrators maintain they never agreed to that, and simply agreed to stagger the layoffs over 2-months. The 2-sides are scheduled to meet again on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
