San Jose city council-members approved a ban on plastic carry-out bags this week. After 2-years of research, the new ordinance was approved yesterday in a 10-to-1 vote. The new ban, which would prohibit retailers from giving out disposable plastic bags at the check-out stand will take effect January 1st 2012.
