State authorities have approved a $500,000 grant, to help fund The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Exploration Center (currently under construction in Santa Cruz). Members of the State Coastal Conservancy authorized the money last week for the center, which will feature exhibits intended to educate visitors about the National Marine Sanctuary. Construction began last summer, and is expected to be completed sometime late next year.
