CA Economy 8th in World 12/03/10 7am TDH

California’s economy is still one of the strongest in the world, despite 3-years of recession.  A report released yesterday by Palo-Alto based Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy reveals that California would have the 8th largest economy in the world, if it were its own country.   The state’s 2009 total of 1.9-trillion dollars in gross domestic product, put it ahead of Brazil’s 1.6-trillion dollar GDP, and behind Italy’s mark of 2.1-trillion dollars.   In the u.s., California beats out texas and new york for the top state economy.  Another measure of economic strength, called “purchasing power” ranks California as having the 11th-strongest economy in the world.
