Police in Watsonville are investigating a fatal shooting that took place during a robbery attempt yesterday afternoon. The 1 p.m. shooting occurred at the Fiesta Latino Market at Beck and Center streets when the gunman went into the market and had a conversation with the clerk, who has been identified as the store owner, 32-year old Yahya Ahmed. The man then walked out of the market, returned with a handgun, demanded cash and then fatally shot Ahmed. Police are searching for a white male in his 20’s with a blonde or brown shaved head, heavyset, about 6-feet tall. This is Watsonville’s 1st murder this year, and 15th in the county.
