A couple was convicted yesterday of committing murder during a kidnapping after killing a Wasco man near Gonzales 2 years ago. 34-year old Sergio De La Cruz and 33-year old Marisela Zarate Andrade were on trial in a Monterey County courtroom this past week on charges of kidnapping and killing Andrade’s husband, 38-year old Jose Nicolas Zarate. The 2 kidnapped Zarate on April 11th 2008, then bound him and put him in a trunk of a Ford Escort where they shot him in the head and then left the vehicle at McIntyre Vineyards. Sentencing for the 2 is slated for September 14th.
