A hotline to help those in distress has been launched in Santa Cruz County. After more than a year of planning, the 2-1-1 hotline launched on Friday, and is designed to put people in contact with social services that can help them. The hotline is expected to take some pressure off of 9-1-1 dispatchers. You can also call 2-1-1 during a disaster, to find out more information about emergency procedures. The 2-1-1 hotline is being funded by the United Way of Santa Cruz County.
