Monterey county sheriff’s deputies arrested a 24-year-old man last night in castroville, on d-u-i-charges. Deputies stopped gabriel gonzales gomes for a vehicle code violation at cooper and merritt streets. After a deputy claimed he smelled alcohol on gomes’ breath, gomes fled on foot. He was tackled by the deputy in a nearby backyard. After being treated for a cut forehead at a local hospital, gomes was arrested for 2-charges of d-u-i, and 1-count of resisting arrest.
