A 39-year-old Santa Cruz man is in custody, after allegedly killing his girlfriend early Saturday morning. Wensy Sanchez was arrested without incident, at an apartment on the 300-block of Morrissey Boulevard. Neighbors called police around 4 a.m. to report a fight taking place, and when officers arrived, they found Sanchez sitting near the 41-year-old victim, whose throat had been cut. Medics were unable to revive her, and she died at the scene. Her identity is being withheld, until authorities can notify her family. This is the 6th homicide in Santa Cruz this year.
