A “Car Sharing” company will be expanding it’s services throughout Santa Cruz thanks to extra funding. The company, Zipcar, already operates at several depots at UC Santa Cruz and a downtown location. A nearly $200,000 grant, awarded by the Monterey Bay Unified Air Pollution District, will now allow more cars to be added to the service, along with additional pick-up points in the city. The service, which features car rentals at $7 an hour, offers fuel-efficient vehicles, like the Hybrid Prius, to those who need a car, without buying one.
