In an effort to help fill city coffers, San Jose city officials are considering leasing or selling their water system. San Jose Mayor, Chuck Reed, hopes the idea could help balance the budget, while also bringing in 50-million dollars more into city reserves. A report on the new proposal is currently being drafted up by city officials, meanwhile it could be sometime next year before the new plan is considered. A sale also would require a public vote.
