NATURALIZATION CEREMONY 07-06-10 17:30 a.v.

Dozens of people became citizens during a naturalization ceremony held this morning. Over 53 citizens from 16 other countries were sworn in at Elkhorn Slough National Reserve. The event was organized by u.s. representative sam farr, and u.s. citizenship and immigration services. The keynote speaker, Monterey County Superior Court Judge Lydia Villareal, said that her grandparents and parents were immigrants who overcame many challenges to give their children a better life. There were 55 naturalization ceremonies held throughout the country during the 4th of July weekend.
