A 21-year-old u.c. santa cruz student was sentenced to 8-months of jail time today. ellis lee was convicted in October of felony animal cruelty, for keeping a rubber band tied around her dog’s nose. The huskie suffered injuries from the treatment, was also found to have been kept in dirty conditions. Lee is expected to only serve a portion of the sentence in county jail; judge ariadne Symons said she would be released during the school year. Lee was also pay 32-hundred dollars in fines and restitution.
